Synopsis

Rajat Kumar Bhagat, forty one years old, wealthy, successful, achieved every goal superciliously and known for being indefatigable in each of his well calculated thought. He was always meticulous in his actions and known by his peers and superiors at his work place as a lawyer of high repute. He had handled 143 corporate lawsuits, amounting to a little over Rs.683/- Crores for his Company in just over a decade.

Life had changed over the past few decades and today Rajat lived with his loving wife Jhanvi and son Rajeev in their luxurious Malabar Hills house in Mumbai.

But life was not always so extraordinary for Rajat. It happened four years ago on Rajat’s 37th Birthday. It was on this day when his house got an unexpected visitor who handed over a WILL to him that led to chain of events which impacted his life including each and every individual around him in a manner that he could not fathom.

The Will promised Rs.144 Crores in assets to him and all he needed to do was take the journey from Mumbai to Kolkata to sign the documents. This small journey introduced him to people like Temur, Anamika, and Chinmay with many others who took every possible step to convince him one way or the other that giving up on the will would be the best thing he could do to save himself from the horrors of being unjustly accused with murder or worse even being killed.

With every step that Rajat took towards getting closer to acquiring the Will, he found himself more and more into the abyss of treachery, deceit and privy to secret grief’s filled with intimate revelations about his friends and family members. Rajat goes through a series of turmoil and emerges a changed man.

The first page itself disappointed me.
The start was very boring and it seemed like one is writing a composition.
The story went on and on with details which lowered my interest.
I could complete the book, but with the given story it could be improved and a little editing is a must.
The synopsis created a hype which the book failed to hold on .

Really enjoyed reading it Ananth. But yes, too long descriptions. Cut them short and it would be a remarkable reading.

Thank you all for your valuable feedback. I have made changes to my copy of the manuscript by editing out lengthy descriptions, except in those plot areas which require the same. For Eg. A Detailed description of a bag or an accessory of a character might be a clue to the main character in unraveling a mystery.

Looking forward to sharing the new edited version some day with all of you soon. Have a wonderful week ahead. Regards

Excellent storyline and writing style, but rather stretchy and slow pace. Tone down the descriptive narrations and it will be in sync with crime fiction.

What's the reason behind the long winding descriptions? Will they be referenced in future chapters and create a twist moment? If yes, then I suggest you rewrite those descriptions in a more interesting way rather than the narrator describing them in a drab way. This way you will be able to accommodate more story in the same number of pages and also help us readers have a page turning excitement. The same thing has been mentioned by multiple readers. Best of luck.

Thanks and duly noted. In fact, after receiving the very first feedback, I have already reworked on the entire story line and cut details and descriptions from the book.
Yes, there are certain descriptions that are intentionally expressed as they have a connect later on with the story in the form of a flashback or as an evidence for the cops and main character of the plot etc. Other than those, I have deleted the said descriptions.
If we are allowed to upload the new edited version of the book sample chapters on this website, I would be extremely glad to update the sample chapters with my new and edited version of the book.
I am grateful to all the reviewers for sharing their valuable feedback and taking their time out to do the same.
The learning curve never ends.
THANKS!

Excellent insights of the characters and plots. The characters feel very real. Though cutting down on few descriptions like food and location can boost the book a lot. Details of characters to remain intact, speaks a lot about their style and nature. Eg.Urgani commercials and food description can be brought down a lot and entry room, rajat, AK details as it is. Waiting to see the rest of the chapters. Story sounds exciting.

No doubt the author is well conversant with the language and has a talent for writing. However, in this book it appears he has gone overboard in describing things the literary way. If it is meant to be a thriller, there is no place for descriptions which slow the story down and take the thrill away from the reader. The chapters need to be trimmed down to improve the story.

Thank you for the detailed review, ratings and feedback. Yes, there are many sections / plots and characters which are described with minute details. Some of these are important clues for Rajat in the further chapters of the book. They help him decide 'who are the bad guys' and also 'who can be really trusted?'. But will surely take your feedback into consideration. In case this manuscript is chosen for publishing by BGB, will definitely work on the 'details' part of the book across areas and reduce the "descriptions' in places which do not affect or later the storyline at the later stages. .

Superb, the details were spectacular. Takes one inside the story. Though would just suggest to edit it in certain areas to avoid few descriptions that were too long unless they are part of the story ahead too in some way. Otherwise, the characters and style is superb.

I admire the effort that has gone into bringing your novel to shape. But believe me, there is a vast scope for improving the pace of the narrative. Maybe I am saying so because I am so used to reading page-turners, but your novel can be a much, much better one if you cut out some descriptions and put them back in later chapters. Best of luck!

The details and descriptions got me intrigued to read further. as I kept reading I saw how the descriptions created a connect with the past and the now part of the story. The bag detail, the pen and writing pad and NLP book shows relevance of things that have changed over the years but the nature of the character being as it is. Well written, cant wait to read the rest of the story.

There is a strange pull and the ornamentation added via verbosity is really enjoyable. Yes, it does differ from the precisely to the point written style of writing, but it has its moments. I liked the part where Rajat is described in and with his room. The way he places things, his eye for details speaks a lot about his style and nature. Looking forward to reading what happens in the story further.

Usually mystery fiction has fewer details and moves rapidly. This one got into details of plots, people and things. Somehow, the style of writing got me keep reading it further. Never realized how much I was wanting to know more about Rajat and AKB, Jahnvi. Characters are very intense. Loved the start, looking forward to seeing this book published. Also, do the details shared foreg. bag details , AKB crest etc have something for me to may be look forward to as clues or its just a detailed visual created of the same. Nevertheless, really enjoyed it. Kudos Mr.Anantha

Good scene descriptions. Interesting back stories. Strong characters and their traits. The author has piqued my curiosity as to how Rajeev managed to find a way out and amass his fortune.

Descriptions usually work only when we know the book or the author. In this case, having read your KINGS are made book earlier, I expected this too to be as descriptive & detailed. Coolest part was the connect you made with the descriptions and the characters nature expressed with the style and their social patterns, loved it Ananth. All the best.

The details of the characters & plots were amazing. It makes you feel like you are actually in that scene with them. Its been ages since I have read novels that have such indepth analysis. Best part of the book was the connect from the past to the minute details like "AKB" logo crest etc and how it relates back to the characters now. Also, how the explanation has been given to the characters evolving from being kings to the current profession. wonderful. Its linked everywhere. Rajat would make for a great publishing read. ALl the best to the author.

Interesting use of fantasy and time travel to pen a gripping mystery. I would have found the story much more engaging with fewer characters and shorter descriptions. Nonetheless, it is an interesting premise and I found it novel and engaging. Best wishes and regards Saurabh Turakhia

Ananthanarayanan V

Dear Saurabh. Thank you for the review. The novel has over 1.2 Lac words & 3 main plot areas with 4 core characters & 1 main HERO of course. I guess, I am used to reading novels that describe places, plots, people & scenarios with a intense detail that has always given me (the reader) a joy of visualizing the scene right in front of me. Probably, that's the reason I write that way too. Though, noted your feedback for sure. All the best!
