Synopsis

'You are in real, real danger’ – a school teacher gets a creepy warning in his mailbox. Seven days later, he massacres eleven of his own students. Two months later, he is gunned down in broad daylight by an obscure militant outfit.

Justice served. The nation pacified. Case closed, the police say. But, two crime reporters think otherwise.

Seeking redemption through this case are Prakash and Seema, ace journalists in their professional lives, but broken individuals in the darkness of their personal hells. As they dig deeper into the mystery, they are led into the ominous forests of Bandhavgarh where an eerily similar massacre had occurred eight years ago.

Little do they know that they have kicked a wasp’s nest.

One by one their leads start turning up in body bags and they are chased by assassins at every corner. Soon they would realize that they are pitted against evil powers pervading the business and political DNA of the country, with an unbelievably sinister agenda.

As a massive terrorist strike looms over the nation, will Prakash and Seema survive long enough uncover a conspiracy of unimaginable proportions?

Hey, don't take it so seriously.. actually it was not something that I thought it to be, so, out of disappointment I gave it one star, though it was wrong, I should not have done that.. I know writing something takes effort and hard work... so, I apologize for that, have a great day :)

Loved the style in which this book has been written! Although a hopeless foodie and an occasional experimenter-in-the-kitchen myself, I used to rarely enter my kitchen....till the day I landed up in a shared hospital accomodation in Nottingham back in 2004. How I wish I had got my hands on a book like this, then. The recipes in this book are easy to follow and do not really need you to have a state-of-the-art kitchen and implements. They are "quick" cook recipes - exactly what one needs when you are far away from mom, have no clue about how to cook, and sick and tired of eating ready-to-eat frozen variety stuff. The stories accompanying each recipe are fun to read, identify with, and bring back memories of similar situations that I am sure most US and UK-bound students would recall. Surely a book that needs to be published.

My passion for cooking (not forgetting to mention that I am a consummate foodie too) has taken me on this beautiful journey across the world through culinary books that open new arenas of tastes, ingredients, texture, aroma, and everything that's related to food. Reading Roomies Foodies has been an invigorating experience indeed - two girls who were totally new to the world of culinary art and yet driven by passion and necessity come up with ways to deal with the fact that they were far away from home. A brilliant idea indeed to pen their experiences being roomies and foodies at the same time and coming out with this amazing book. I am sure this book will have students and their mothers worldwide grabbing a copy as a reference guide to 'satiate your appetite' whilst staying away from your family. Meg and Lux - Good going girlz - brilliant work.

Er..I started reading the book as I thought the story is about roomies (who are foodies). My bad. :P (Yes, I skipped reading the blurb) But well, it turned out to be unexpectedly pleasant! Though I'm not into cooking, I can tell for a fact that the book offers some unique recipes, with some equally unique names for them! I'd like to read further for sure and hope that it will finally make me learn some easy-to-cook but delicious recipes! :D P.S.- I think my mum would love this book even more that I did!

This book doesnt promise to give you recipes that you have'nt seen or read about before...Sticks to its title this book is for quick recipes and for people who absouletly do not know cooking and hv to cook due to untoward circumstance...what I as a reader loved about this book is the fact that every recipe has a story and a lovely captured picture..less options for vegetarians but definitely want to try "Halloween Sambhar"...the spinach recipe doesnt look any different from the normal ones..nonetheless enjoyed the stories and want to read many more...

Normally, recipe books are ho-hum unless accompanied by interesting context and anecdotes. This book catches you from the word go. You want to read the recipe because you read the story. And vice versa. It would surely appeal to those youngsters leaving their home and setting off to the US - but it appeals even more to those back home. It gives a glimpse into the life of every brother, cousin, sister once removed whom you know has left for American shores. And it gives you a taste of their life there. For those back home, it will be armoury of advice to give over Skype and hangouts. For those saying goodbye, it will be a great settling-in gift to give to their loved ones. I can't wait to see this in print - and I am sure to be buying more than one copy for everyone I know headed to the US.

Dr. M.D.Nair

I am not a great follower of Cook books and recipes, since I do not have too much use of them. However, this book by Lux and Meg caught my attention purely by accident. I was fascinated by the authors' passion for the subject which arose purely out of necessity which once again reinforces the old cliche " necessity is the mother on Inventions" , since the authors were led to this venture just because they were forced to learn the tricks of the trade of developing recipes and the art of cooking for their survival during their student days in Buffalo, U.S. I therefore went through the book in all earnestness and found it extremely innovative, practical and doable by the majority of novices . I wish the authors all success and may the Book turn out to be a useful reference to all budding foodies.

The only things that i know to cook and can offer at a table without having my guest/wife frown are tea/coffee , ommlette , upamma , rice , chicken fry and fish fry . I have tried several others but in almost all the occassions we have had to order or dine out :) .That doesnt stop me from advertising I'm an ardent food lover (happier being a taster than a maker) and love a change from the usual every now and then . Now thats what attracted my attention to this book and was hoping to find some easy to make but on the same note spectacular dishes that we cooking-ignorant less-fairer half of humanity could cook and surprise anyone especially the more-fairer halves :). And Lo Behold I must say this book has done justice to this desire of mine .
Great piece of work and special congrats to the work putin by the two ladies. Excellent effort .

There are books, there are good books and there are stories that don't seem like books. Meg and Lux's book would easily qualify for the last. I didn't read a book, I read a story, of two women, open to everything life threw at them. A story of tackling life head-on and coming out winners. It was so encouraging (and amusing) to read a story with EVERY recipe! Makes it so much more fun! The fact that there are yummy recipes thrown in was a huge add-on. The recipes sound and look so desirable! I melted reading about the serendipitous Cafe Mocha!!! It brought back the memories of the times I spent as a student in Germany. I think, Lux and Meg have penned "THE" Bible of cooking for students, for many generations to come. And I feel privileged to know one of the authors personally. My recommendation: Read this classic, try those amazing dishes and then, meet the powerhouse authors. Rest assured, you won't regret any of these! In the end, Bloody Good Book has found a bloody good book, for sure.!

With the profusion of cookbooks and blogs on cooking, writing a cookbooks is a big challenge. The authors have done well to introduce their cookbook of recipes in a fun manner by linking it to their life and incidents from it. Some other cookbook authors too have done so and such a anecdotal recounting of recipes makes cookbooks easier to read and to enjoy. This cookbook comes as it does with experience of Indian students at Graduate School in the USA will definitely be an item of help to any Indian student already in the USA or intending to go to graduate school in the USA. Nothing, of course, prevents them from undergraduate Indian students and non-Indian students from using the book!

An interesting way of sharing the experience of friendship in the form of a culinary book. I miss my college days now, plus the recipes are explained in a simple manner.

Wish we had this book during those Buffalo days, remembering those cooking sessions with my fellow roomies, never knew such a great work of culinary art was in progress two streets across, missed the chance to be the privileged ones to taste first. Appreciate the creativity and perseverance that you put into this. Well done both. I am sure this book will satiate the appetite of those millions of roomies around the globe.

In my experiences away from home I have always realised that what makes me home-sick the most is the food. Especially in foreign countries, after a week, all I crave is "waran-bhaath" ("dal-chawal"). An easy read and a subject close to most people's hearts: warm home-made food! And I agree whole-heartedly with the authors: for a scientist cooking is just another fun-filled experiment. Wish you all the best with the book!

Away from home for almost 5 years! And they encountered extreme climate very small budget and high pressure academic requirement and came out with flying colours. As parents we always wondered how the children managed to survive. Now they came up a novel idea to help the present and future adventurers - fellow room mates. All the blessings from us for the wonderful venture. Achan and amma

An interesting take on a recipe book, would love to read more if it. A suggestion to both the authors and the BGB team...I was wondering if more of the text could be plain i.e. without Bold or Italics. It is a little difficult to read on a small screen also, it kind of defeats the purpose of highlighting a particular phrase/word when everything is emphasised! Content- Fun/Good...Layout- Too much happening...a clean look would be nicer.

Meghana Joshi

Hi Anokhee, thank you for the feedback! Actually the various formatting flows lot more spectacularly in a Word Doc or a PDF, but as we too are finding out, it does not translate well to eReader. Working on ironing out those kinks. Also, our recipe book by its very nature is picture-rich; that throws it off a bit in eReader.

I was a guinea pig to most of the recipes in here - skeptical to some & willing to many. To cut a tall story short, I never went to bed hungry or grumbling in my days at #139 Heath Street. Actually, being the dutiful guinea pig ensured that I was a gastronomically satisfied soul, every single day. If one likes to cook - be it for oneself or for putting a satisfied smile on another's face - Roomies / Foodies will definitely get you there.

The spiritual bond punjabi souls share with their own palate is what drew me to this holy book and to pleasantly discover a molecular biologist flexing culinary muscle in a collaborative adventure was a surprise. Aromas waft out of the pages and delicious juices flow...drooling for the rest and this summer in the kitchen is surely going to be fun!
