Beautifully written. Loved the narrative and the flow of the story. Keeps you interested till the very last word and the twist makes you go ''áww''. Good job Niyati!

Hi Niyati,
I was smiling half-way through the first story.I am a dog-lover too and somewhere in my heart of hearts even though I knew she must rush to Pawan, the way you have put forth the words, I was deceived. :-) Glad to meet a fellow dog-lover here. I read the other two stories. Loved the simplicity of the thought and the language. I would love to read the book. Meanwhile, is there a blog which you maintain? It would be great to sink my mind into it and learn more. All the best.
Warm regards
Sudhansu

I liked all the three stories and look forward to reading more! The first two especially kept me turning the pages fast, while the third, though short, was pretty much predictable. Niyati uses simple language to evoke reflection and a wide range of emotions with these short stories. But I must say I came away feeling that the human psyche could have been explored more deeply...

I really like the style of narrative, and the surprise element in each story. When an author can keep you reading past the "what", to seek out the "how" and the "why", then you know you're hooked.

I particularly liked "The Wait". The unexpected last line in the story had a real BAM effect.

Keep them coming.

The writing is elegant and simple. I was skimming through the stories. So you can write page turners, no doubt about it. However, the stories either lacked purpose or failed to convey one. Like the first story was a nothing for me. The book didn't make me think at all, I'm sorry. The plots were half-cooked for me as a writer which had the potential but didn't shine through.

Love them all. Wish there were more. The twists are totally unpredictable till the half way at least and they're funny in a way. My favourite is the first one. Your writing style is brilliant yet simple. Looking forward to read the rest of the stories! All the best!

Thank you Remesh for the generous rating and encouraging review. There are a couple of more stories like 'Unfaithful' and 'Hype about Love' that have twists. I'm sure you'll love them too :-) And hey, thanks for pointing out the 'humbug' aspect. I kinda use the word myself (i think i picked it up in my childhood, either from Uncle Scrooge or Duck Tales!), but like you said, Indians in general probably dont use it... Will keep that in mind when i'm writing stories henceforth :-)

meant for any age group that can understand english. keep up the simplicity.
continue the surprises, though i did guess midway about what pawan is :)
when you get published avoid using real names, as that essence of a fiction work start getting real faces, and a reader's imagination comes to a full stop, unless you are writing a non-fiction. i believe you have that romantic writer within you, so use the full potential to keep the readers engaged. also, do not ever forget humor.
good luck.

Damini Majumdar

Nice stories! All three of them.
As for "Of Love and Loyalty", while reading the last paragraph I was like "what the heck!!" and started laughing being relieved somehow! And yeah "A girl's gotta love what a girl's gotta love!" True that!

"Destiny" was a sweet little tale. A bit uncanny that Maya and Reyansh had everything in common, but sweet nonetheless.

The last one, "Love:Calculated" is a touchy one and a simple story told beautifully.

P.S.- I didn't like the cover of the book, no offense. One humble request, if the book is published, please do change the cover if you can. But well, that's just my POV.

Niyati Shinde

Thank you Vinny, for the awesome review and honest opinion :-) Yes, a girl's gotta love what a girl's gotta love! Personally, I would never be with any guy who hates dogs! Yes, it might look a bit uncanny that Maya and Reyansh have everything in common. But that's why the title, 'Destiny'. They both have had failed relationships, and finally, something beyond their control, something probably supernatural, something like 'Destiny' intervenes :-) Glad you liked the 3rd story as well :-)

I'm a dog mom and animal lover, and since dogs feature in 2 out of 3 stories here, I'm guessing you are one too, Niyati! These are sweet stories with characters we can relate to, even cross paths with daily. There is sufficient "hook" in the unfolding to keep the reader interested till the very end. I liked the punch and crispness of the second story (writing style); the others were a bit descriptive (that's just me, though, I like 'em snappy!) All the best, Niyati!
