Synopsis

Synopsis of Pay Per Heart

Aditi Kapoor, in a stream-of-consciousness, recounts her tale to Varun, who is nearly a stranger. The story begins in a first-person narrative, and Aditi is seen describing the time when ‘it all’ started.

She articulates her desires and zeal, things that she had inherited instinctively. Aditi had always known that she needed to be an artist, a vocal musician, and to some extent, as big as she could imagine.

As a result of her involvement and growing reputation as a singer at school, she finds her rapport with her friends clearly deteriorating. Her otherwise intense passion for music dissolves in her woos to impress Arjun, a guy she believes to be her “soul mate”. Arjun, however, leaves no stone unturned to keep his distance from Aditi, while also luring her into falling in love with him with his silence.

Arjun confesses to his crush on Aditi and they begin to date. Aditi feels something vital missing from their relationship and tries hard to be the girl he wants. Her attention towards music is interrupted by her sudden split with Arjun, which is precisely when tables turn, leading Aditi to obsess over forbidden accomplishments, unrequited love, and she challenges herself to win Arjun back.

Suddenly, everything seems to turn against her. She is betrayed, fails her exams, is restricted from chasing her dreams, and seen obsessing over Arjun, until one day, things seem to fall into place again.

As soon as she gets back into her artsy world, she realizes that Arjun had never abandoned her thoughts, and always existed somewhere in the back of her mind. Her feelings for him forbid her brain from thinking logically and thus, history repeats itself. Things go haywire.

The story shifts to a third person narrative, and the other characters are seen under an omniscient light.

Enter Varun. On one hand where Aditi is still learning how to deal with issues, Varun feels he has it all figured out. He encourages her to be a realist instead of being a dreamer, because dreams seldom come true. Aditi discovers that Varun has a hidden passion that he has been neglecting for a long time.

What's the secret? Can the secret drive Arjun's thoughts away from her head?

I will not waste your time with a lengthy review:
1. Paragraphs seem to go on and on.
2. Story line seems predictable and like so many romantic stories out there.
3. Seems to drag on a bit

If I have not mentioned any other negatives, then you should take it as a positive.

The language had good flow, but from the three chapters, it is not clear where the plot is going. But it is an excellent effort

The grammar is good but reading this was like stirring a drum of tar. The story is lost in the heavy writing and the several long paras. My review might be biased by the long wait for New Arrivals on the website. If you have waited for almost two months, you expectations are high, and you are expecting something spanking.
