Synopsis

Caught in the hooks of uncertainty, an emerging ad-man tries to use logic to figure what’s happening to him. He believes that he’s caused the death of his favourite movie actress in one of the two lives that he claims to be living. And watching all of this happen are a bunch of people from two schools of thought—Physics and Psychiatry. Set in the busy streets, rented flats and packed pubs of Bangalore and Mumbai, here’s a thriller that’s punctuated with unprecedented happenings, thoughtful words and intertwined twists- an exhibition of how things change in a split second.

Couldn't make much out from the three chapters. The synopsis seems promising and intriguing and hopefully the story is going to be a good one. However, at a few places the story seemed to be unnecessarily dragged which could have been excused easily (like, the elaborated description of 'the' Mahi and Dev's fondness for her). Looking forward to read the complete book.

P.S.- Being boring has nothing to do with being Bengali (I strongly object to the use of the word 'Bong', no offense). It is just how a person is irrespective of his/her community.

Thank you for your feedback. Well, I wish they allowed me to put six chapters here, so you could come across the first moment of thrill. Mahi's description is important in the context of the story, as a lot of what happens has quite a bit to do with Mahi. Bongs...well, I am a Bengali myself and I personally don't think I belong to a boring community. That's what Dev thinks and he has his own reasons for that.

A very interesting synopsis, read the three chapters and each one makes you more curious to quickly jump to another to get deeper into the story. More than a script it is like a casual conversation with the author Dev where he is sharing his thoughts like we do with our friends. Would definitely like to read the entire book.

The chapters are small. After reading the title and synopsis, one would expect a racy start. For example, after the murder of the actress, we haven't heard anything in this regard in the first three chapters. Instead Mr Dev seems to be overtly obsessed with ''The Mahi Verma" thing. Though i believe the excitement is about to start,I would prefer moving on fast. Some of the cheesy lines could have been avoided to give the story a more serious feel apt to the name of the novel. Overall a satisfactory start which could have been better.

A must read indeed, an intriguing plot with a gripping sense of suspense as you follow through, you just can't wait to see how the turn of events pan out. A surreal brew of realism and imagination instills a sense of 'fear' and 'recall' a midst the multiple perceptions the story takes you through.

Perhaps 3 chapters isn't enough to completely assess what might happen next in Split Second, but couple them with the synopsis, one can gauge that there's a lot to come from this piece of literature and only a matter of time till it does so! Having read ABC's previous book, I can provide assurance (from just the 3 chapters) of a marked development in the storytelling, which promises a most excellent end-product and one that's definitely worth the wait!

Pretty smooth read, but the sample chapters don't give me the feel of a thriller. A suggestion to BGB: For a thriller, please make the story available till the first big thrill. That would help the readers appraise the book in a better way. Good attempt nonetheless. Best of luck to the author!

I'd judge the story by the synopsis and the style by the way the first three chapters are written. And I wouldn't judge anything from the cover, which is great by the way. Beautiful plot to start with and a promising entertainer is what I would say about the first three chapters. I am already excited about the Mahi Julie Dev Rakshit riddle. Anything sounds interesting when its said with right attitude and this one is said with aplomb! This is a harmless read unless you are made of doughnuts. From the initial build-up looks like the author has managed to ensnare the audience with a pulsating story. The preamble of the main characters is peppered with right mix of wit, humor and suspense.
Reading this little tableau it emphasizes the fact that the beauty about panic is that after it strikes, you don’t understand any instructions. Waiting with bated breath for this humdinger.

The first three chapters are a glimpse of the life of the apparently "Not-so-fun" Ad guy! Here and there lies a hint of his insecurities, his apparent one true love. Smartly put, I would say. The first three chapters might not reveal a lot about what lies next for us, but they definitely stir up suspense and a lot of speculation in the minds of readers. Aspects such as the mention of Julie and the phone call that wasn't answered in the third chapter keep the readers guessing. This I believe, is something that drives every reader to look forward to the upcoming chapters. Definitely worked for me!!!

I like the set-up and the realism. While the synopsis tells me what to expect out of the novel, the three revealed chapters give up snapshots of stuff that would happen later in the novel. It’s a light read so far, but I am expecting a steep turn ahead. All the best, Mr. AB.

The first three chapters does not reveal much about the book but introduction of the three characters of the story who later in the book will be playing major roles is what I could understand. The story build up is quite exciting. Very well written with fun elements in between and maintaining the suspense of what next chapters will bring makes me more curious to wait for the book. Right selection of words and humor in between makes it more interesting to read. Full story awaited!!!

First the cover, then the synopsis and then the style. The result-I was hooked. I am expecting a lot of twists to happen but in the first three, there aren’t any. I’m sure it’s the silence before the storm. There three chapters basically introduce us to these three people, who I am guessing would be playing major roles in the chapters to come. God knows what’s gonna happen next. Can hardly wait.

After having read the synopsis, i felt like reading the book straightaway. Very well written, it is flavored with the right amount of spices of humor and fun. Those little hints of suspense make you crave for the further chapters. With a very witty selection of words and the continuous humor that it has, this book would make for a perfect must read. I wish BGB had some more chapters of it. After all the suspense it has created, I am just waiting for the release.

The story build up is quite exciting. Some interesting events in the life of a few youngsters are put across brilliantly with some humor and fun elements every now and then. Initial mention of a major event got me hooked into the novel with the curiosity as to how the supposedly normal, fun filled life of these youngsters would lead to an event as bizarre as that, almost forgetting that i only get to read 3 chapters. Left me hungry and longing for more at the end of the read.

Being a science fiction writer and fan, I picked this as my first story to read. Unfortunately the first three chapters do not have any fictionalized science in it and it was a let down. Having said that I did like the premise and hoping that the story would take a twist once the plot is set. The language seemed to fall at places and the chapters are very small but describe event that move very far ahead in time. I believe a chapter with SciFi events included would be more exciting and it would add if the author describes the events in depth instead of rushing ahead. I wish the best for the future.
