Synopsis

Get ballooned away to the unheard world of clouds with Arya and Nitya when they step into a hot air balloon and mistakenly launch it. Now, who would have ever thought that clouds could have a life of their own?

With little cloudy cars to whisk you around, discover the cloudy houses, gardens, cloudy families and see the hues of light sprinkle its colours over the land. Be a part of the exciting cloudy carnivals with little fairies accompanying you. Let the beauty of the land leave you enchanted before you face the lurking fear of a clash between the dark and the pure clouds.

Can the damage done by the callousness of the humans to their only source of rains be undone or will the darkness of the noxious clouds dominate humanity. Read on to find out if Arya and Nitya will return home safe from their adventure to "The World of Cloudtains"!

The synopsis excited me. It took me a while to realize that Nitya was day dreaming. It was not clear to me at first, I had to re read it. The land of clouds is fascinating but by the time I reached the last few pages I felt bored.

A new venture into the adventurous world of fantasy that children love. The books very imaginatively written, and leads the reader on into unexplored lands yet with a reality check.

Lovely read but very distracting from work. Had to put aside everything else to finish it in one read and I'm glad I did. The simple nature of the writing will surely appeal to the children as well as adults. Nice build up of the story and it really got me wondering what could possibly go wrong in this mystically beautiful world. Loved the sisters but thankfully I don't have any children like them. Hoping to read a lot more of this book and any more to follow! Kudos to the writer.

What a lovely plot!! Seriously, this was amazing reading experience! Cloudtains!! Oh God, what a brilliant thought! Personally, I'm quite fascinated by the world of clouds. Isn't it fun staring at those huge white pieces of cotton and trying to imagine various shapes within them? How I love to do that and we (me and my elder sister) used to do that all the time in childhood! Sigh, those days!!

Talking of which, I was thoroughly enjoying the tidbits between Arya and Nitya, the sister duo! Honestly, while reading this I had a smile plastered on my face throughout, it was that sweet! One question though, why isn't the name of the guide cloud disclosed? It will be told later in the story, I suppose? I so want to know what the adventure is going to be like! Will there be evil clouds?? :D

Okay, to cut things short, I hope you've got the idea how much I enjoyed reading this manuscript and needless to say that I want to read the full book! The narration is good too, easy going and humorous. Great job, Sapna! And thank you for introducing me to the world of Cloudtains. :)

P.S.- There are a few typos here and there which I hope will be taken care of.

As a child it had always been my dream to soar up in the sky and that is what inspired me to become a pilot. This book once again took me back to my world of dreams.... the next time when I am up in the sky I will certainly look out for Cloudy and two sweat stranded girls with him....

Enjoyed every bit of it. Loved Arya and Nitya and Cloudy. The simple writing makes one feel a part of the journey and I am sure this book will be a hit with the kids. As part of growing up I so much wanted to read books with Indian names and set in India, but there were not many. This book will fill that void.

It is a wonderful imaginative book, guaranteed to keep the young ones hooked since there is a lot happening. The Indian theme is quite inspiring since it is something that many young kids in India can connect with and not very common in Literature. I recommend that you also try to introduce moral values since it is good to influence kids at an early age.

Jul 23 '14

Thanks Sharyl. I will keep in mind the moral value thing though I have tried to make the children more aware of their responsibilities towards the environment through this series.

This book is a great book for kids and parents must make children read such books. Even schools must use such books for educational purposes as this takes into account adventure, fantasy , environment essential for kids to grow up with.

Cloudtains....I have not read an imaginative book involving nature and its beautiful interpretation for a long time.
Innovative imagination going through innocent minds and all the time your wanting to know more. In fact probably we can go further a step and explore the possibility of having a series, each one being more exploring into the World of Cloudtains.
I'll look forward to what goes on in each trip as the series go on.
Lovely concept and a delight to read.

Very beautifully built up in the first three chapters. Was tempted to read this book when it was mentioned as the favorite book by two people in the interviews by BGB. I have to say it does live up to the expectation quite well.
The author introduces a new world and has taken the time to describe it well and help the reader understand the different aspects in this marvelous place. I loved the idea of just dipping your hands into a cloud to wash them. Maybe we should have something like that on Earth! The characters compliment each other and the relation between the two sisters is so effortless. Overall I loved what i have read up till now and would recommend everyone out there to read it.

There's a dearth of good children's books in India so the kids fulfill that gap with books from the west. If the publisher decides to publish this book and gives it proper support I'm sure Indian kids would love to read a book with names they can identify with.

Vinayak Rajesekhar

A children's book almost always reminds me of Tintin, Asterix & Obelix, and Tinkle comics that were light hearted, funny, imaginative, and engaging. At the same time, they were also easy to understand. This manuscript I feel in certain sections had words difficult to understand at the first go, and could be edited a tad further to engage the reader even more. As we all know and realise, retaining a kid's attention beyond a certain time is like asking for the moon.
So far, it was an interesting read, one I'd certainly recommend to any and perhaps every child. Imaginative, fun, creative, and explorative, are some of the words I'd use to describe the manuscript.

After reading your shorts that were published in the Chicken Soup series, it is wonderful to see you writing an entire story to your credit. The fantasy genre is yet to be tapped in India, like it is in the West, so this seems like a very promising start! Also, the kiddos are bound to enjoy! It will be interesting to come back and read the entire story to know what happens next. All the best!

This looks like a really promising read. It would be so interesting to see this in Children's Literature, especially since there isn't much going on there in that department. Bulbu;

Cute fairy tale texture.....took me back in time, when i used to huddle in bed and read such fantasy stories which transported me to their land !!

Thank you Bulbu. That is the exact feeling I want the children to have while reading my book.

The author uses a fertile imagination. to weave a lazy family holiday into an exciting adventure. I pity the anxious parents!

Fell upon it just by chance, and journeyed with the two sisters into the clouds. Now I'm hung mid-nowhere. Where is the rest of the journey? What happens next I'm holding my breath to know...
